Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Congress of being obsessed with corruption, appeasement and nepotism and urged the people of Rajasthan to wipe out the ruling party from every corner of the state, projecting himself as the poll mascot.

Modi addressed two rallies and led one road show in the heartland state on Monday, intensifying the party’s campaign for the single-phase voting on November 25.
The BJP has not projected any chief ministerial face and is banking on Modi’s popularity to sway the voters to snatch power from the Congress.

The PM also sought to play the polarising card in the deeply religious state by saying that the Congress and its INDIA bloc partners want to eradicate “Sanatan dharma” and tried to woo the female voters by claiming that the Opposition parties have an anti-women mindset.

“The Congress and its allies want to destroy Sanatan. You all are well aware of what all they have said against Sanatan and I don’t need to repeat them,” Modi said in an apparent reference to DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments. “Destroying Sanatan means destroying the culture of Rajasthan,” Modi added and asked the crowd if they would allow it.

Taking credit for the passage of the women’s reservation bill, Modi referred to Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s “ghor apmanjanak” (deeply insulting) comments against women and went on to stress the Congress’s silence over it.

While the women's reservation bill has been passed, its implementation could take years because the Modi government has tied it to the delimitation of constituencies based on the long-delayed census. The Congress and several other parties have been pushing for immediate implementation of the women's bill.

“Ever since the law giving reservation to women was passed, they have started a campaign against women. One of the leaders of the arrogant alliance, who is the chief minister of Bihar, made very objectionable comments about our mothers and sisters inside the Assembly,” Modi said. “No Congress leader came out to condemn the remarks,” he added and asked the women in the crowd if they would vote for such a party.

Modi also slammed the Bihar chief minister for his “derogatory language” against a former chief minister from the Dalit community and again accused the Congress of silence.

Hitting out at the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the state, the Prime Minister said that the party cannot think of anything except corruption, appeasement and dynasty.

“The way our mothers and sisters clean every nook and corner of their homes during Diwali, the Congress has to be wiped out from the state,” Modi said.
