BJP leaders on Monday seized upon the political crisis in Rajasthan to poke fun at the Congress.

Union environment minister Bhupendra Yadav was among the first to tweet an old picture seeking to target the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The photograph tweeted by Yadav showed Rahul Gandhi posing happily, flanked by Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.

The picture was taken four years ago when Rahul had sought to showcase unity among the two Rajasthan leaders after he got an upset Sachin Pilot to accept to work as Gehlot’s deputy.

The minister captioned the photo: “Please get them to join first.”

The BJP has been seeking to dismiss the impact of the Yatra, saying “Rahul who cannot keep his party together is talking about uniting the country”.

On Monday, gleeful BJP leaders sought to project the upheaval in Rajasthan as evidence that buttressed their charge.

While the central leaders chose to poke fun, the state BJP leaders talked about President's rule in the Congress-run state and saw a clear victory for their party in 2023 when Rajasthan votes again.

State BJP chief Satish Poonia said development had come to a halt in Rajasthan because of the Congress's drama and that the people were ready to give their verdict in 2023.

There was no official statement from the BJP over the Rajasthan situation, and party leaders said they were watching the situation closely and enjoying the factional fight in the Congress.

The internal rivalry and factionalism in the Rajasthan BJP are equally bad but because of the dominance of the leadership, the rift does not come out in the open. Party managers are happy that the turmoil in the Congress will cloak their internal problems.

“We have nothing to say now. The Congress is doing its best to ensure that the BJP wins big in 2023,” a BJP general secretary said.
