Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said people were now telling Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the obstacles “created by him”, such as price rise and unemployment, had exhausted them and he must stop.
At a rally in Andhra Pradesh after unveiling a 30ft bronze statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju on his 125th birth anniversary, Modi had recalled Alluri’s war cry to the British, “Dum hai toh mujhe rok lo” (stop me if you have the guts). Modi said the people of the country were now using a similar slogan, “Dum hai toh humein rok lo”, as they were bravely confronting many challenges.
“The Prime Minister said — 133 crore Indians are telling every obstacle, ‘if you have the guts, then stop us’,” Rahul said in a tweet in Hindi.
Under BJP rule, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have gone up by 157 per cent, fuel prices have broken all records and the “Gabbar Tax loot”, a reference to the GST, and a “tsunami of unemployment” have hit the country, Rahul alleged.
“In fact, the public is telling the Prime Minister — these obstacles created by you have exhausted us, now stop,” he said.
