Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi drives a bus in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Channi claimed that the night curfew imposed by the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi was only a ploy to get the Punjab Assembly polls postponed by creating the impression that the Covid threat was serious. The Congress leader also accused the BJP of wanting to postpone the Punjab elections, scheduled early next year.

The AAP, which is the main Opposition in Punjab, dismissed the claim as “baseless” and “immature”.

Channi made the comments at an event where 58 new buses were inducted into the Punjab government fleet, with the chief minister himself driving one and also announcing free travel passes for college students.
