The Opposition has complained that the release of the biopic ahead of the April 11-May 19 polls would give the BJP an advantage and violate the MCC Poster for the film, 'PM Narendra Modi'

The biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hit the theatres on April 11, the film’s producer Sandip Ssingh said on Friday.

On Thursday, the makers of PM Narendra Modi had announced the release had been postponed from the scheduled date of April 5 while the Central Board of Film Certification said the movie was still undergoing examination and certification.

Also on Thursday, the Supreme Court said it would take up on April 8 a petition seeking a stay on the film’s release, and the Election Commission said it would take a final call on the release on April 5.

The Opposition has complained that the release of the biopic ahead of the April 11-May 19 polls would give the BJP an advantage and violate the model code of conduct.

‘“PM Narendra Modi’ is officially releasing on 11th April 2019,” Singh tweeted.

The film is directed by Omung Kuman and features Vivek Oberoi in the lead.
