Political leaders under detention in Kashmir for more than 50 days will be released one by one, an adviser to Jammu and Kashmir governor has said.
“Yes, one by one after analysis of every individual, they will be released,” said Farooq Khan, adviser to governor Satya Pal Malik.
Political leaders in Jammu were released on Wednesday. They were also placed under house arrest since August 5.
The decision came a few days after the government had announced block development council elections.
'We were told by a station house officer that restriction on me has been lifted and I can move freely,' senior Congress leader and former minister Ramnan Bhalla told PTI.
Restrictions were first imposed across Kashmir on August 5 when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate it into two Union territories.
