The Supreme Court will take up on Friday an advocate’s appeal seeking a direction to all authorities to provide adequate protection to Kashmiris, particularly students, in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack in which over 40 CRPF jawans were killed.

A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices L. Nageswara Rao and Sanjiv Khanna agreed to take up the matter on Friday after advocate Tariq Adeeb contended that the matter needed urgent consideration.

Adeeb had wanted the matter to be taken up on Thursday itself. CJI Gogoi said the matter would be heard on Friday.

The petitioner cited media reports on the attacks on Kashmiris in various parts of the country, including in Jammu, Uttarakhand, Bengal, Bihar, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

The petition urged the court to direct all authorities in the country, besides the heads of educations institutions, to take adequate measures and provide security to Kashmiris to prevent possible loss of life and property.
