A meeting between NCP president Sharad Pawar and Narendra Modi is under way in Parliament where the Maharashtra strongman is likely to apprise the Prime Minister of farmers' distress in his home state, sources said.
The meeting comes amid uncertainty over government formation in the Maharashtra where talks are on among the NCP, Congress and the Shiv Sena.
The duo is meeting two days after the Prime Minister praised NCP lawmakers in Parliament for not entering the Well of the House during the proceedings.
NCP and Congress leaders will meet this evening to discuss how to partner with the Shiv Sena, a long-term BJP ally that recently ended its alliance with the ruling party over a tussle over the chief minister's post.
