Odisha vigilance ranks number one in country: National Crime Record Bureau data

State vigilance has registered 202 criminal cases against 365 persons including 38 Class-I officers and 37 Class-II officers, this year

Odisha vigilance has ranked number one in the country according to the latest National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) data in the area of detection and registration of disproportionate assets cases.

The state vigilance has registered 202 criminal cases against 365 persons including 38 Class-I officers and 37 Class-II officers, this year. Besides, it has seized Rs 268 crore of disproportionate assets from public servants.

Congratulating the vigilance for its success, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said: “It is very encouraging to see that in all major parameters like registration and disposal of corruption cases and conviction of corrupt public servants, Odisha vigilance is among the top performing anti-corruption agencies in the country, as revealed by the latest statistics from the National Crime Record Bureau.

“I am particularly delighted to know that in the area of detection and registration of disproportionate assets cases, Odisha vigilance has ranked number one in the country as per the latest NCRB data.”

Naveen on Monday administered the oath of honesty and integrity to government employees to kick-start the vigilance awareness week.

Addressing the occasion, Naveen said: “My government has adopted a zero-tolerance approach to corruption so that public services are made available to the people of the state in a fair and transparent manner.”

The chief minister said: “As a part of the zero-tolerance approach to corruption, a number of public servants have been dismissed and many have been given premature retirement in suitable cases as a strong deterrent.”
