Odisha Central University is set to get its new vice-chancellor, after over a year of the post lying vacant. Prof Chakradhar Tripathi from Visva Bharati is set to be appointed as the new vice-chancellor of the university situated in tribal-dominated Koraput, a government official said.

Tripathi is a faculty member of Hindi in Visva Bharati. The post has been lying vacant since July 2021 after the death of incumbent VC Prof I Ramabrahamam.

The university is running with just 11 per cent of sanctioned faculty strength.Prof Jagadish K. Patnaik has been recommended for VC of Nagaland University, while the name of Prof Anil Kumar Rai has been recommended as the VC of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, in Bihar. Prof Patnaik is currently the pro-VC of Mizoram University, while Prof Rai is dean of the School of Social Sciences at Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha.
