Bhubaneswar was on Sunday the hottest place in Odisha as the state capital recorded 43 degrees Celsius.
Odisha has turned into a heated cauldron for the last two days with many places recording temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, the industrial town of Angul was the hottest place with the day temperature soaring to 42.1 degrees Celsius and Bhubaneswar recorded 41.7 degrees Celsius.
Besides Bhubaneswar, five other places in the state — Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Chandbali, Hirakud and Keonjhar — on Sunday recorded temperature above 40 degrees Celsius.
India Meteorological Department on Sunday sounded a heatwave alert for several districts in Odisha.
