The Naveen Patnaik government has decided to make the 75th Independence Day anniversary, which is being celebrated as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the country, special for its people by providing them the Tricolour free of cost.

The job of stitching the national flags has been entrusted to women self-help groups under Mission Shakti which is now an independent department aiming to empower women.

“There is tremendous enthusiasm among people to celebrate the day and the government is pulling out all stops to make the occasion special,” official sources said.

Rain in Odisha

Odisha may bear the brunt of another possible low-pressure area over the weekend, the Met office said on Thursday, even as the state continues to reel from pouring rain over the past few days due to depression, reports PTI.

Torrential rain has battered several districts due to the intensified weather system, which crossed the state on Tuesday and has now weakened over Madhya Pradesh.
