The Odisha cabinet has raised the age limit for government jobs to 38 from 32 at present. This relaxation, however, is applicable only for the jobs advertised between 2021 and 2023.

The cabinet on Monday made it clear that special relaxation will be applicable for SC, ST, social and educationally backward classes, women and physically disabled candidates. While the age limit for SC, ST, SEBC and women has been increased from 38 to 43, and from 38 to 48 for physically handicapped persons.

The cabinet said that the decision has been taken in view of the fact that many candidates are deprived of the chance to get government jobs for no fault of theirs as they cross the age eligibility criteria due the delay in the recruitment process.
