The Odisha government will spend Rs 1,000 crore for the development of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla.
“It will be made a centre of excellence for technical education,” said chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra.
Mohapatra, along with V.K. Pandian, private secretary to chief minister, and Hemant Sharma, secretary, skill development and technical education, visited the university on Thursday and inspected the infrastructure facilities and ongoing developmental work on the campus.
After the inspection, Mahapatra said: “The university’s strength would be raised to 10,000 from the existing 5,000 students strength. A master plan will be prepared for the technical institution to develop as the centre of excellence.”
