Odisha government approves hike in monthly stipend for nursing, pharmacy students

After this enhancement, a D.Pharma student will get a stipend of Rs 500 per month and ANM (Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM) will receive Rs 2,000

The Odisha government on Wednesday approved the increase of monthly stipend for nursing, pharmacy and allied medical students.

“Considering the requests of the students of nursing, pharmacy and allied medical students for enhancement of their stipend, and taking into account the importance of services being rendered by them, chief minister Naveen Patnaik has approved enhancement of stipend amount in favour of the students,” said a press release issued by the chief minister’s office (CMO).

After this enhancement, a D.Pharma student will get a stipend of Rs 500 per month and ANM (Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM) will receive Rs 2,000.

Similarly, a B.Sc (N) will get Rs 5,000 for an internship, MPhil in Clinical Psychology will avail Rs 10,000 monthly stipend and MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work will receive Rs 10,000 stipend per month.

“The above category of students were earlier provided with a stipend amount per month @ Rs 250/- for D.Pharma, Rs 1,000/- for ANM, Rs 2,500/- for B. Sc(N) internship, Rs 7,000/- for MPhil in Clinical Psychology and Rs 7,000/- for MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work,” said the release.

“The government provides a stipend to students of these courses for the period of their education during which they also provide clinical services at health institutions,” said the release.
