The officials of the Odisha Vigilance Department on Wednesday arrested an engineer for possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of 333 per cent of his known sources of income.
The accused, Dusmanta Kumar Dehury, is at present working as an assistant engineer in the rural water sub-division at Nimapara in Puri district.
In a press release, the vigilance department said: “On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Dehury, simultaneous house searches were conducted on Tuesday at seven places in Khurdha, Puri and Dhenkanal districts by seven teams of the Odisha vigilance. During house searches, the movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 3.54crore were unearthed in the name of Dehury.”
As per the estimates, he has bank and insurance deposits worth over Rs 47.65lakh, cash Rs 1,62,800, a four-wheeler worth Rs 11lakh, 2 two wheelers, and gold household articles worth over Rs 12.18lakh.
