Bhubaneswar’s BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, who was not invited by the Odisha government to the state capital’s 74th foundation day celebrations, on Thursday said if responsibility was not fixed within a week about the protocol lapses, she would again remind chief minister Naveen Patnaik about the oversight.

As per the protocol being the MP of Bhubhaneswar, she should be invited to the capital foundation day celebration which was held on Wednesday.

“Reference to my letter to Hon’ble @Naveen_Odisha yesterday.I hope that the enquiry for fixation of responsibility for non-invitation will be conducted at the earliest. Residents of the City are waiting for the response of the State Govt. Will remind in a week’s time, if not done,” she tweeted.

Reacting to the allegations, state information and public relations minister Raghunandan Das said, “If something (inappropriate) has happened, we will find out officially what exactly transpired and why such a thing happened. We will look into the matter.”

Aparajita, who on Wednesday tweeted her protest over the issue of not being invited, had later in the day written to Naveen demanding a probe. “I would like to remind that I am the elected member of Lok Sabha from Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency. As a public representative of the capital, it is my ‘right’ to be invited to the public function which had been organised by the state government,” the MP said.

Aparajita added that irrespective of the different political ideologies of the BJP and the ruling Biju Janata Dal in Odisha, the state government must learn to extend minimum courtesy to the people’s representatives.
