Amid the tug of war over governance issues, the weekly meeting between Delhi LG V K Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal did not take place on Friday.

Officials from both the LG and the CM offices confirmed that the weekly meeting could not take place, though they did not give any specific reason.

In a fresh war of words, Saxena on Friday accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of making "misleading and derogatory" remarks against him, prompting the AAP leader to hit back, saying he should focus on improving the law and order situation to prevent another Kanjhawla-like incident.

Both of them shot off letters to each other.

Replying to the letter sent to him by the LG, Kejriwal suggested that both should meet on Saturday along with AAP MLAs.

Raj Niwas officials, however, said the LG has not extended any fresh invitation of a meeting to the chief minister as of now.

No such invitation was extended by the LG even in his letter to the chief minister, they said.

In his letter to Kejriwal, the LG accused him of "political posturing" during his march to Raj Niwas on January 16 along with his deputy Manish Sisodia and AAP MLAs.

Saxena said he invited Kejriwal and Sisodia for a meeting on January 16 but the chief minister chose to reject it, saying he wanted to meet him along with his MLAs.

Given the short notice and sudden demand on Kejriwal's part, it would not have been possible to hold a meeting with 70 to 80 people at once, nor would it have served any concrete purpose, he said.

"Unfortunately, you went ahead to make a convenient political posture that 'the LG refused to meet me'," Saxena wrote in the letter to Kejriwal.

In his letter to Saxena, the Delhi chief minister said, "Now, you have invited all of us ministers and MLAs for discussion over lunch, thank you so much." Reacting to this, officials at the LG office, however, said the chief minister "misunderstood" the language of LG's letter.

Kejriwal in his letter said if the LG had wanted, he could have met him and his MLAs present outside Raj Niwas on January 16 just for five minutes.

The chief minister suggested that if it suited to the LG, he along with his ministers and MLAs could reach the Raj Niwas for a meeting at 1 PM on Saturday.

He said the LG could suggest a different time if that suited him.
