NLC India Limited signs power purchase agreement for 400MW in Stage-1 and 400MW in Stage-2

NLCIL operates in mining and power generation business in India and Gridco Limited is in the business of transmission and bulk supply of electricity and other related activities

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), under the ministry of coal, and Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) Limited, a state government undertaking, signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 400MW in Stage-1 and 400MW in Stage-2 of NLCIL’s proposed Neyveli Talabira Super Critical Thermal Power Station (NTTPP) in Odisha.

NLCIL operates in the mining and power generation business in India and Gridco Limited is in the business of transmission and bulk supply of electricity and other related activities.

“With this agreement, NLCIL has tied up its full capacity of 2400MW of Neyveli Talabira Super Critical Thermal Power Station Stage-I,” the PIB said in a press release on Friday.

The release said: “NLCIL has already signed a similar agreement in the past with Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry for 1,500MW, 400MW, and 100MW power supply respectively from Neyveli Talabira Super Critical Thermal Power station Stage-I and in the second phase of 1x800 MW capacity of NTTPP, 400MW is tied up now with GRIDCO
Odisha.”

The Power Purchase Agreement was signed by director (power) NLC India Limited M. Venkatachalam and director (trading & business development), GRIDCO Limited, Umakanta Sahoo.
