Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Japan soon to attract investments to the state.
Industries and micro, small and medium enterprises minister Pratap Keshari Deb shared this in the Assembly on Friday. He said: “A delegation led by the chief minister will visit Japan to bring investments to the state. During Naveen’s Dubai visit, we had been able to attract investment to the tune of Rs 22,000 crore. We are hopeful to attract more investment than we received during our Dubai visit.”
Sources in the chief minister's office said Naveen will leave for Japan on April 3 and will return on April 9. During the visit, Naveen is likely to attend several programmes in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
Naveen went on a trip to Dubai and Rome in June 2022. During his Rome visit, he went to Vatican City to meet Pope Francis. During his Dubai visit, he met investors and showcased the business potential available in the state. Later Odisha had successfully organised the Make in Odisha Conclave in Bhubaneswar.
In the third edition of the Make in Odisha conclave that was concluded on December 4, 2022, the Odisha government announced that it had been able to attract investments to the tune of Rs 10.50 lakh crore.
“The Make in Odisha (MIO) Conclave 2022 is a grand success. I am happy to announce that the conclave has generated investment intents of Rs 10.50 lakh crores with the potential for 10.50 lakh direct and indirect employment. It’s heartening to see the huge response we have got, especially in the post-Covid scenario,” Naveen had said.
The state had received over 120 investment intents valued at Rs 2 lakh crore in its first edition of the MIO in 2016 and later Rs 4 lakh crore in the second edition of the MIO in 2018.
