Gujarat High Court seeks direct anwers from the Morbi civic body in the October 20 bridge collapse case which killed more than 130 people. The top court says that the civic body is "acting smart" and slammed the manner in which the contract was awarded the maintenance of a 150-year-old bridge, according to NDTV.
"The municipality, a government body, has defaulted, which ultimately killed 135 people," the court stated as per a preliminary observation.
The top court asked the officials some pertinent questions regarding the old bridge such as details of its fitness certificate and who was responsible for giving the fitness certificate before opening the bridge to the public.
