Prior to this, during his early college years, Dhruv was elected President of the National Service Scheme (NSS), a program of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. His team planted over 150 trees on the campus of the University of Delhi. He also began an anti-smoking campaign on the Delhi University campus. With the approach to always work for the betterment of the college, he assisted in improving infrastructure and providing basic necessities such as installing water coolers and air conditioners in the library. Other than this, he founded an anti-harassment organisation for women's empowerment and organised numerous cultural events on the college campus.
