The Malayalam actor who was abducted and sexually assaulted in a car in 2017 approached President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday seeking action against those behind the “opening” of the mobile phone memory card that contained visuals of the crime.
Superstar Dileep is an accused in the case and had been in prison before he got bail.
She urged the President that under no circumstances should the memory card be released, lest it affect her future. She sought the President’s intervention to expedite an effective probe and action against those erring “officials who causedinordinate delay”.
A survivor approaching the President assumes significance as the probe in the case is at its fag end. In the letter, she pointed fingers at the Supreme Court and Kerala High Court, alleging that action was not taken against the truant officials as they were responsible for not abiding by the rules.
The actor claimed that scientific tests had suggested that the memory card was opened and examined thrice while in the custody of the Kerala High Court. The actor recalled that she approached the highest court hoping to get justice and to get the perpetrators booked, but she lamented that no action had been taken.
“The memory card was accessed on the night of January 9, 2018, December 13, 2018, at 9.58pm and 10.58pm, respectively. The third attempt was initiated on July 19, 2021, from 12.19pm to 12.54pm. The card was used in a Vivo-made mobile phone having an Android operating system with a Jio mobile network,” the actress wrote.
The actor was allegedly abducted and assaulted when she was travelling in a car from Thrissur to Kochi on the purported instructions of superstar Dileep.
