Flight services will resume from May 25 in a 'calibrated manner', civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday, adding that all airports and carriers have been informed to be ready for operations.

'Domestic civil aviation operations will recommence in a calibrated manner from Monday 25th May 2020. All airports & air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from 25th May,' the civil aviation minister said in a tweet.

He added that the ministry of civil aviation will issue the standard operating procedures (SOPs) separately.

'SOPs for passenger movement are also being separately issued by @MoCA_GoI,' he said.

Puri, however, made no mention of resumption of international flight services.

Commercial flights have been suspended since March 25 the day the country-wide lockdown began to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Even with the suspension, various airlines had started bookings for flights from June onwards, sources told The Telegraph. Before Puri's announcement, flight services were suspended till May 31, when the current phase of lockdown is scheduled to end.

A SpiceJet spokesperson, however, said its international bookings were closed till June 15.
