A court here on Monday sent Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody until April 15 in connection with the liquor scam case in the capital.

In a special session of the Assembly, an AAP MLA claimed he was offered money by the BJP to defect.

Kejriwal will join former cabinet colleagues Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, as well as party MP Sanjay Singh, at the Tihar prison complex. Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC K. Kavitha is also lodged here in the liquor case.

The Enforcement Directorate told the court that although it doesn’t wish to seek an extension of Kejriwal's remand, it may make such a request as the chief minister had allegedly been “totally non-cooperative and has tried to mislead the interrogation.”

Kejriwal’s counsels moved an application for him to be given the Bhagavad Gita, the Ramayana, Neerja Chowdhury’s How Prime Ministers Decide, a religious locket and a special diet as he is diabetic. The prison doesn’t allow home-cooked food.

The AAP government called for a special session of the Delhi Assembly on Monday to discuss rumours of President’s Rule being imposed in the city. The session quickly degenerated into a shouting match between AAP and BJP MLAs, compelling Speaker Ram Niwas Goel to adjourn the house to December 8.

Later, AAP MLA Rituraj Jha claimed that the BJP had approached him to encourage 10 MLAs — whose roots are in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh — to defect in lieu of money "before President’s Rule is imposed".

The BJP pointed out that AAP MLAs have evaded deposing in a police probe on the BJP’s defamation plaint against AAP leaders for claiming that they have been approached for defection.
