Filmmaker Aisha Sultana, who has been booked for sedition in Lakshadweep, on Saturday said she had not done anything against the country and would continue her fight till the islanders got justice.

Speaking to reporters at Kochi airport before leaving for the archipelago to appear before Kavaratti police for questioning on Sunday in connection with the case, she said her advocate was also accompanying her and she would cooperate with the police.

“I believe that I will get justice as I have not done anything wrong. My words were wrongly interpreted and I have already mentioned everything in detail in a recent Facebook post,” Aisha said.

On her use of the term “bio-weapon” during a television discussion, she said all the controversies had erupted based on that particular word.

“I have not done anything against the country. All these have happened over a word I uttered. So, it is my responsibility to prove that I have not done anything wrong. I will continue my fight till my land and people get justice,” she said.

Kerala High Court had on Thursday granted Aisha interim anticipatory bail for a week.

The allegation is that the filmmaker, while participating in a debate telecast by a Malayalam news channel on June 7, made an assertion that the Centre used a “bio-weapon” against the people of Lakshadweep.

But Aisha had clarified she had only meant controversial administrator Praful Khoda Patel while referring to the “bio-weapon” as his decisions to ease restrictions had led to the Covid outbreak in Lakshadweep.
