The NGO Foundation for Media Professionals has moved the Supreme Court seeking contempt proceedings against officials of the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir administration alleging “willful failure of government officials in complying” with the court’s May 11 directive to constitute a “special committee” to review the continued restriction on the use of 4G Internet services in the Union Territory.

The NGO in its application filed through advocate Shadan Farasat has pleaded that although 29 days have passed since the order was issued by a bench headed by Justice N.V. Ramana, the government has not taken any steps to set up the committee. The application is expected to come up for hearing by Friday.
