Sources in the CISF said the constable had during her questioning claimed that Kangana had made "wrong comments" against the women of Punjab during the farmers' agitation in 2020-21.

In a video, purportedly shot in the airport shortly after the incident, the constable appears to be saying: “She (Kangana) had given a statement that women had satthere (during the farmers’ protest) for 100. My mother was also among the protesters when she madethose remarks.”

A CISF official said there was also counter-allegation from a jawan that Kangana had pushed security personnel and refusedto put her phone in the tray during the security check. “We are examining the CCTV footage to ascertain what exactly happened,” the official said.

Kangana, who recently won the Lok Sabha election from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, was on her way to Delhi to attend a BJP meeting scheduled for Friday.

In a video message posted on X, the actor said: “I am getting a lot of phone calls from the media as well as my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine. The incident that happened today at Chandigarh airport was during the security check.

“As soon as I came out after the security check, the lady in the second cabin, a CISF security staff, came from the side, hit me in the face and started abusingme. When I asked her why she had done so, she said that she supports the farmers’ protests. I am safe but I am concerned about the terrorism and violence that is increasing in Punjab.”

Kangana added that she would file a complaint with the Union home ministry.
