The Jharkhand Congress is looking eagerly for Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to shake up its functionaries at the booth level before the 2024 parliamentary elections.
“It is a matter of pride and also a challenge that Rahul Ji will be spending eight days in Jharkhand, the maximum number of days after Uttar Pradesh (11), during the mass contact programme.
“We expect that not only the district functionaries but the booth-level officials will be awakened at the right time for the parliamentary elections and gear up for the stiff challenge of the BJP and its wings,” said Congress state president Rajesh Thakur,
who returned from Delhi on Friday.
Apart from Jharkhand, Assam is the only state where Rahul Gandhi will spend eight days.
Thakur said that tentatively the yatra will enter Jharkhand in the first week of February.
“The dates will be cleared within a day or two but going by the decision at party headquarters on Thursday the yatra will enter Jharkhand in the first week of February from Bengal and will leave for Odisha and again enter Jharkhand before leaving
for Chhattisgarh,” said Thakur.
Rahul Gandhi will be covering 804 kilometres and cover all five divisions — North Chhotanagpur, South Chhotanagpur, Kolhan, Santhal Pargana and Palamu.
“Rahul ji will be traversing through 13 districts of Jharkhand, strategically touching all the five divisions of the state.
“We will soon hold a meeting with all district and block level functionaries to chalk out strategies for the mass contact programme and ensure the success of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,” added Thakur.
The yatra will enter from Bengal and start from Dumka (headquarters of Santhal Pargana division) and then cover Jamtara, Giridih, Dhanbad (North Chhotanagpur), Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi (South Chhotanagpur), Khunti, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Jamshedpur and Chaibasa (Kolhan), Palamu and Garhwa (Palamu).
