Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren skipped the sixth summons of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office at Ranchi on Tuesday and instead addressed a rally at Dumka.
The chief minister passed by the ED office in Hinoo on Tuesday morning on the way to Ranchi airport and left for Dumka to address a rally as part of the third phase of Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Apke Dwar (linking beneficiaries with welfare schemes and addressing grievances at their doorstep).
It became evident that the chief minister would not turn up at the ED office when a messenger from the chief minister’s office handed over a sealed letter to the ED around 3.30pm.
Sources in the ED informed that the letter from the chief minister seeks more time from the federal agency and also seeks clarity in what capacity the summons have been issued to Hemant Soren — as an accused or seeking cooperation in the investigation of a case.
On Sunday, the ED had issued the sixth summons to Soren for questioning in an alleged money laundering case linked to a land scam in Ranchi.
