Revanna was accused of abducting a woman who was one of the victims of alleged sexual abuse committed by his son and absconding Lok Sabha member Prajwal.

The bail came just a day after a video surfaced on social media in which the woman claimed that she was neither kidnapped nor kept against her will by Revanna’s men. It is unclear if the court had taken this video into consideration while granting bail.

Revanna’s lawyer Srinivas told reporters that two sureties and bonds of Rs 5 lakh each were part of the conditions set for the bail. “We will know all the conditions once we get a copy of the order. He is likely to be released tomorrow (Tuesday),” he said.

Revanna, the eldest son of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, was arrested on May 4 within hours of the woman being rescued from a farmhouse in Mysuru.

The bail coincided with one more survivor recounting her harrowing experience to the special investigation team formed to probe the case against the father-son duo. The woman narrated how she had to strip on camera for Prajwal. According to her, Prajwal manipulated her by threatening to harm her mother if she didn’t oblige.

She alleged that both Prajwal and his father had raped her mother.

Prajwal, 33, had fled to Germany the night after the state government constituted the SIT to probe the sexual abuse allegations and a pen drive containing 2,976 files, including video clips and pictures of the alleged abuse by the Hassan Lok Sabha member.
