The Congress has alleged that the Intelligence Bureau is interrogating many people who participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

“IB has been interrogating a number of people who have interacted with Rahul Gandhi during Bharat Jodo Yatra,” Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh tweeted on Sunday.

“The spooks have been asking all sorts of questions & also wanting copies of memoranda submitted to him. There’s nothing secretive about the Yatra but clearly G2 are rattled!”

“G2” is an allusion to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah.

Congress sources say that several eminent intellectuals, celebrities and businessmen have privately expressed support for the Bharat Jodo Yatra but conveyed their inability to join it for fear of harassment by government agencies. Some of these personalities have written to Rahul expressing solidarity with the cause.

Several other eminent people, activists, ex-servicemen, organisations and trade unions have participated in the Yatra in different states and publicly endorsed Rahul’s initiative.
