Jayant Mammen Mathew, executive editor of Malayala Manorama, has been elected president of the Indian Newspaper Society for the year 2018-2019. He succeeds Akila Urankar of Business Standard.

Shailesh Gupta of Mid-Day is deputy president; L. Adimoolam of Dinamalar is vice-president; and Sharad Saxena of Hindustan Times is the treasurer.
