IMD predicts widespread rainfall over east and northeast India over next five days

Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over east and northeast India during the next five days, the India Meteorological Department said in its bulletin on Friday.

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning very likely over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep,

Karnataka, Gujarat state; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Marathwada, Rayalaseema; isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during the next five days.

Heavy rainfall very likely at some places over Konkan & Goa; at isolated places over Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat Region, Telangana during 12-16 July; Rayalaseema on 14 & 15 July; Saurashtra & Kutch on 12 & 16 July and over Lakshadweep on 12 July.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Konkan & Goa, Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra during 12 to 16 July; Kerala, coastal & south interior Karnataka during 13-16 July, Gujarat region on 12 July and Gujarat state on 16 July.

Forecast for east & northeast India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over east and northeast India during the next five days.

Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya and Odisha during 12 to 16 July; sub-Himalayan Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh during 12 to 14, Gangetic Bengal on 12 July; Jharkhand on 12 & 13 July; Andaman & Nicobar on 13 & 14 July; Nagaland and Manipur on 12, 14 & 15 July.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over sub-Himalayan Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh on 12 July; Nagaland on 14 July and Odisha on 15 & 16 July.

Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Meghalaya on 12 July.

Forecast for northwest & central India

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm &

lightning very likely over Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during the next five days and over Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on 12 and 13 July.

Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh during 12 to 16; Chhattisgarh during 12 to 15 July; west Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during 12-14 July; Punjab, Haryana and Jammu on 12 July; Himachal Pradesh on 12 and 13 July; east Rajasthan on 12 July & 16 July and Vidarbha during 14 to 16 July.
