Heavy rainfall has forced authorities in Gurugram to ask corporate offices and private institutions to work from home on Friday so that traffic congestion can be avoided, media reports said.

On Thursday, incessant rainfall led to waterlogging in parts of the city, leading to traffic jams. There was water-logging at some places and the traffic was moving at a slow speed. The traffic moved slowly on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway, Signature Tower Flyover, and Hero Honda Chowk due to waterlogging, TV visuals showed.

The most-affected areas are Mayfield Garden, Basai Chowk, AIT Chowk, Atlas Chowk, CRPF Chowk and Sector 10-A. The disaster management authorities has taken preparation to tackle the situation. More than 1,000 traffic police personnel were deployed in and around the city. A district administration source said Gurugram on Thursday received 54 mm of rainfall along with Wazirabad which received maximum 60 mm.

Meanwhile, Manesar recorded at 50 mm, Sohna 43 mm, Harsar 54 mm, Badshahpur 30 mm, Pataudi 20 mm and Farrukhnagar 29 mm rainfall till 5 pm.
