Maharaj is known for his controversial statements. Before the elections he had said that after the 2019 elections, there won’t be any in 2024. Keeping in line with his fame, he recently visited a rape accused MLA in Sitapur district jail to thank him after the elections.
The Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, took his oath amid slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', 'Vande Mataram' and 'Jai Shri Ram'. The four-time MP responded with “Jai Bhim! Jai Meem! Takbeer Allahu Akbar! Jai Hind!”
Owaisi is the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen or AIMIM. His slogans were interpreted by a section on Twitter as a bid to strengthen Dalit-Muslim solidarity.
When Sakshi Maharaj took oath as MP in the Lok Sabha today, 'mandir wahin banayenge' was chanted.
It is unclear which legislator chanted this when Sakshi Maharaj, the newly elected Unnao MP, was a the lectern. After taking oath in Sanskrit, he said 'Jai Shri Ram'.
'Mandir wahin banayenge (w shall make the temple rght there),' is a chant for those who support the making of the Ram temple in Ayodhya where the Babri Masjid stood.
Saffron-clad Sakshi Maharaj is a five-time MP known to have taken part in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He is also an accused in the Babri demolition case. In November 2018 rally, he called for the demolition of Delhi’s Jama Masjid claiming that it has been constructed on the remains of a temple.

Some tweeters said the religious sloganeering in the Lok Sabha was an insult to the august House.
Similarly, Shafiqur Rahman Barq, the Samajwadi Party MP from Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh walked in to take oath amid chants of Vande Mataram. “As far as Vande Mataram is concerned, it is against Islam. We cannot follow it,” he said later.
On the other hand, some expressed their anger at the AIMIM leader.
