Sources said senior officials of Gurgaon police on Sunday conducted meetings with Hindu outfits ahead of the religious procession scheduled on Monday and issued guidelines to maintain peace. The participants have been asked not to raise any provocative slogans. The police have urged the public not to pay heed to rumours.

“We have made elaborate arrangements as 14 duty magistrates have been designated to oversee the procession. Besides, police, bomb squad members and paramilitary force personnel will be deployed along the route of the procession. Surveillance is being conducted by drones,” said a Gurgaon police officer.

The suspension of Internet services is aimed at preventing the spread of misinformation and rumours through social media, he said, adding a flag march was conducted on Sunday in the area to instill a sense of security among the public.

The police are also keeping a close watch on the route along Nalheshwar Temple, Aravalli Mountains, Badkali Chowk, Jhirakeshwar Temple and Shringeshwar Temple, along which the procession will pass.

Vehicles coming from other states and districts to participate in the yatra will
be videographed and thoroughly checked to ensure there are no explosive materials or weapons.
