Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday said the holding of the three-day G20 meeting on tourism in Srinagar had “denounced” Pakistan’s alleged anti-Kashmir and anti-peace narrative.

The three-day event concluded on Wednesday and the foreign delegates left for Delhi early on Thursday. They were given a warm send-off. Three G20 member countries — China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey — and guest country Egypt had boycotted the event.

Jammu and Kashmir police chief Dilbag Singh on Thursday said the event had left behind good memories “to be cherished by the people of Jammu and Kashmir for long”.

“This event has opened new vistas and hopes, denouncing many myths and fake anti-Kashmir andanti-peace narratives basedon falsehood and propagated by our neighbouringcountry,” the DGP said in a statement.

“People of Kashmir deserve special compliments for seeing through the falsehood of Pak narratives and participating in the event in every way wholeheartedly. The delegates not only enjoyed the beauty of Kashmir but also lauded the local people and their hospitality,” Singh added.

The DGP claimed the security arrangements for the event were “least obtrusive, ensuring full normal life and business for the people”.

Lt governor Manoj Sinha told a gathering in Ganderbal on Thursday that the “entire world has witnessed the awe-inspiring socio-economic progress of Jammu Kashmir” during the event. “Faster and inclusive growth and our sustained effort to boost the tourism sector is attracting the attention of the entire world,” he said.
