Former Karnataka minister, BJP's KS Eshwarappa, who resigned after a huge controversy following the suicide of a contractor, has been cleared by the police after probe in the case, reports ndtv.com.
The former minister was named in the case filed over the suicide - contractor accused him of being "solely responsible" for his death in a last messages.
Santosh Patil committed suicide on April 12 and Eshwarappa was in the eye of a storm but was cleared due to lack of evidence.
A report in connection with the suicide has been filed at the court of the Public Representatives.
The former lawmaker who was also facing corruption charges, was asked to step down after central leadership intervened.
BJP national general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Arun Singh had earlier said the party is with its senior leader Eshwarappa.
He also expressed confidence of BJP winning more than 150 seats in Karnataka, during the 2023 assembly polls.
"Eshwarappa is a very senior leader of the party and he has worked towards the party's position today. We are fully confident that after the complete inquiry, Eshwarappa will be cleared of all charges and will be back," he said, in response to a question on the future role for Eshwarappa in the party.
