Farmers and workers who gathered at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Thursday for the Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat urged people to “punish” the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.
They accused the party of unleashing “atrocities on the democratic, secular and federal character of the Indian Republic” and the woeful plight of the farming community and working classes.
Stating that people cannot expect anything good for farmers and workers if the BJP is elected again, the resolution adopted at the Mahapanchayat — called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) — asserted that people are supreme in a democracy and they have to emerge as the real political power to push back the corporate forces from the corridors of power and protect the livelihoods of the basic producing classes.
The farmers have also given a call to “expose, protest, punish BJP” for not implementing the agreement with the SKM on December 9, 2021, on minimum support price at the rate fixed by the Swaminathan Commission.
