Family row claims two persons, injures four others in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district

Incident is said to be the fallout of a love affair gone wrong and a neighbour is the main accused

Armed miscreants allegedly ambushed a family, who were returning home after performing the final rituals of the Chhath Puja on Monday, and opened fire at it, killing two persons and seriously injuring four others in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district.

The incident is said to be the fallout of a love affair gone wrong and a neighbour is the main accused.

The incident occurred at Punjabi Bagh locality under Kawaiya police station when the family of one Shashi Bhushan Jha were returning home after offering oblations to the Sun on the banks of the Kiul river.

People carrying firearms were lying in wait and started firing indiscriminately. The bullets hit six members of the family, killing Shashi Bhushan’s sons Chandan and Rajendra on the spot.

Four other members of the family, including Shashi Bhushan, his daughter Durga, daughters-in-law Lovely Devi and Preeti Devi, were hit by bullets.

Three of them have been referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) because of the serious nature of their injuries.
