The Supreme Court has reinstated in service a former woman employee who had levelled allegations of sexual misconduct against former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, sources said.
The woman has joined duty and proceeded on leave and all her arrears have been cleared, the sources added.
The apex court’s in-house inquiry committee, headed by Justice S.A. Bobde who is now the CJI, had in May said it “found no substance” in her allegations against Gogoi.
The woman was arrested in March last year on a complaint of cheating and criminal intimidation filed by a Haryana resident who said she had taken Rs 50,000, promising him a job at the Supreme Court. She later got bail.
In April, she sent a sworn affidavit to 22 apex court judges levelling allegations against Gogoi. She said she was transferred and then terminated from service.
In September, a Delhi court closed the case against her after the complainant said he did not want to pursue it.
