RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday put the state government, led by chief minister Nitish Kumar, on the mat over the rising crime graph in Bihar by mentioning several incidents that occurred over the past 48 hours.

His attack was akin to turning the table on the ruling alliance leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had repeatedly used the "jungle raj" (lawlessness) allegations against the RJD during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. It was one of the factors that led to the NDA clinching 30 out of the total 40 parliamentary seats in Bihar.

“See the surprising crime panorama of just a few hours of "mangal raj" (welfare rule) of the double-engine government in Bihar. The chief minister, two deputy chief ministers and the entire administration is criminally silent over these crime incidents,” Tejashwi said in a post on social media.

The 14 incidents that the RJD leader quoted in his post include disrobing and beating a woman to death in Bhagalpur, the discovery of the bodies of two murdered children in a ditch in Supaul, finding the body of a woman in Dangri river in Munger, stabbing of two sisters in Patna, and incidents of indiscriminate firing in Ara and Masaurhi (Patna district), among others.

Tejashwi also focused on two advocates being shot dead, an attack on a police team, and the shooting of a youth, in Chhapra of Saran district.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s second daughter Rohini Acharya contested from Saran Lok Sabha constituency but lost to the BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
