The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will now probe into the illegal entry from Bangladesh to Jharkhand.
The ED officials in Ranchi informed that an ECIR (Enforcement case information report) was filed on Saturday based on an FIR lodged in Bariatu police station of Ranchi on June 4 this year.
“The whole matter is related to the arrest of three suspected Bangladeshi girls from a resort under the Bariatu police station in Ranchi. The three arrested girls were identified as residents of Chittagong, Bangladesh. All three girls were brought to Calcutta with the help of another girl. During the police investigation, it was found that on the midnight of May 31, these three girls, along with three other girls, in connivance with private agents, had illegally crossed the Bangladesh border and entered India by cutting the fencing in the forest area,” the ED official said.
The ED official citing police complaint said that fake Aadhaar cards were also made in India with the same names of the arrested girls.
“They are being provided fake documents to establish Indian citizenship. Many suspicious persons are involved in activities related to illegal infiltration and making fake identity certificates. This is criminal activity related to the proceeds of crime as per the definition given under section 2 (1) (U) of PMLA 2002,” the source said.
The move of the ED assumes significance with BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi have alleged that illegal infiltration from Bangladesh is a serious problem in Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand High Court had earlier this month directed for the formation of an independent fact-finding body to probe Bangladeshi infiltration in Santhal Pargana because of the conflicting stand of the Centre and Jharkhand government on the issue.
