The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted raids at former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik’s residence and his three other offices.
However, the agency is yet to issue any release regarding the raids on the house of Patnaik. Sources said a team of ED officials on Friday reached Patnaik’s Nayapalli residence, and returned after a 10-hour-long raid. The agency also simultaneously conducted raids at three other places.
Patnaik’s family has a mining business. However, Patnaik is not directly involved in the business.
Sources said the ED seized some documents. It is suspected that Patnaik might be involved in some illegal financial transaction that could be the reason for the raid.
The ED on Wednesday conducted raids on an NGO office which belongs to the deceased brother of BJD MLA Pramila Mallik.
The agency, in a press release on Friday, said it conducted search operations at four locations in Odisha and Delhi under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, on Wednesday in connection with an investigation being carried out against Bharat Integrated Social Welfare Agency.
