Rebels have asked the SC to order the Deputy Speaker not take any action on the disqualification plea till the matter is decided. They have also urged the court to direct the Maharashtra government to provide security to their families.
Shinde claimed all 55 MLAs wanted him as the leader of the Sena Legislature Party in 2019.
Sena appealed for disqualification of 16 MLAs with the Deputy Speaker. As per the Shinde camp, move was illegal since "disqualification can happen only for matters in the assembly and not for skipping a party meeting."
