Doctors are graded as God, and why not? The degree of devotion they show towards us is second to none. While they are already considered a paragon of virtue, we know of a doctor whose altruism is giving the best to a deprived society. Meet Dr. Avtar Singh! He is Chief Orthopedic Surgeon at Amandeep Hospital and is also heading a team of 8 Orthopedic surgeons.

Besides being diligent in his work, Dr. Avtar Singh is a huge philanthropist at heart. He has undertaken multiple activities to help unprivileged people. Lately, Dr. Avtar Singh has been working with many other individuals in a healthcare unit who are trying to make society a better place. We have listed a few of his activities that proved to be a blessing for a score of people.

Dr. Avtar Singh conducted medical camps in remote and border areas where healthcare is still inaccessible. He covered the far-fetched borders of Leh, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir and extended to the Pakistan borders in Punjab. Through these free specialist camps, some basic medications were also given to the patients. Poor patients are selected from the camps and are given free treatment.

Apart from setting up this healthcare camp, Dr. Avtar Singh started a drive called "Punjabiyo Khedaan Naal Judo, Nasheyaa Toh Mudo." He encouraged youth to participate in sports and discouraged them from using drugs. To support his drive, Avtar Singh also distributed sports kits in villages. And guess what? Hundreds of students are coming forward to take advantage of this drive.

These are just a few! On duty, you will see Dr. Avtar saving the lives of numerous people, and off the field, he does the same by carrying out philanthropic activities. We need more doctors and more people like Dr. Avtar Singh.

Apart from Orthopedics, the doctor is passionate about sports and runs two sports academies, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy and Amandeep Cricket Academy. Dr. Avtar Singh has achieved several milestones in his field. He was awarded a fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association in 2012 and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
