A slew of schemes were rolled out for the urban residents of Chhattisgarh on Saturday ranging from doorstep delivery of documents to the expansion of slum healthcare and industrial parks.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel virtually launched the expansion of various schemes being run under the urban administration and development department at a programme organised at his residence office in Raipur. He launched the Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana in all civic bodies through which 25 services, including labour cards, will now be provided to beneficiaries at their doorstep.

Earlier, the benefits of this scheme were only limited to the residents of municipal corporation areas. The chief minister also inaugurated the Urban Industrial Park (UIPA) in the state’s urban areas to enhance employment opportunities for start-up entrepreneurs and women self-help groups. He also flagged off 30 new mobile medical units (MMUs) under the Chief Minister’s Slum Health Scheme.

The MMUs, popularly known as ‘Neeli Gaadi’ (blue vehicle), have gained significant popularity, leading to an increase in the number of these units. Under the MukhyamantriMitan Yojana, a total of 99,999 certificates have been delivered to the doorsteps of citizens so far. Under the scheme, ration cards, Aadhaar cards and PAN cards would be delivered to houses.

“Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana was launched with an aim to strengthen service delivery and provide citizens with essential documents from the comfort of their homes. Various government documents are now accessible to citizens through ‘Mitans’ in the urban areas of Chhattisgarh. I hope that these innovative initiatives will create new employment opportunities in our cities and give new momentum to the urban economy,” said Baghel.

Starting from Saturday, the Mitan Yojana, which facilitates home delivery of 25 services, will be available in all Nagar Palika Parishads across the state. The one lakh beneficiaries of the ‘Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana’ received certificates on Saturday.
