In a significant development, Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been taken into custody in California, United States, claims an NDTV report.
Anmol, who is wanted in multiple criminal cases in India, had a non-bailable warrant issued against him earlier this month. His detention comes amidst heightened efforts by Indian law enforcement agencies to secure his extradition.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch recently initiated the process of extraditing Anmol, who has been linked to the high-profile murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique. He is also accused of involvement in the assassination of Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala and firing at Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence that sent shockwaves through the film industry and beyond.
Anmol also faces two cases registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and 18 other criminal cases. The NIA had announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for any information leading to his arrest, underlining the urgency of apprehending him.
Anmol Bishnoi's detention in California marks a significant step in the crackdown on the Bishnoi gang, a criminal syndicate linked to several cases of violence, extortion, and organised crime in India.
Official confirmation from the Indian authorities regarding the details of his detention and the extradition timeline is awaited.
