The Karnataka Assembly was adjourned again on Monday without a floor test, this time close to midnight, and one of the reasons was the presence of diabetics.

The House was adjourned after a face-off between the Janata Dal Secular-Congress coalition, which wants more time for a trust vote, and the BJP, which is against any more delay and is straining at the leash to form the government.

Janata Dal Secular MLA Srinivas Gowda abruptly left the House, citing his diabetic condition. BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa, who is also a diabetic, sought an hour’s adjournment to have dinner and resume the discussions until voting by midnight.

At 11.45pm on Monday, the Speaker adjourned the House until 10am on Tuesday on the condition that the confidence motion would be put to vote at 6pm.
